The PHS Boys Swim Team were excited to have made State this year, after missing the State meet last year. The Boys went to the Division II State Championship Meet at Skyline High School Aquatic Center on Saturday, November 7, 2020.
The Boys, after competing in the one and only Invitational Swim Meet last week, found out that they had qualified for the State Meet on Monday, 11/2/2020, and had one week to prepare. The Boys came into the State Meet riding high from the results of the Regional Invitational, but they knew they could do more.
After leaving the High School at 4:15 am, Saturday Morning, and driving 2.5 hours to the Skyline High School pool. The Boys Swim Team consisting of Bryson Smith, Cody Roberts, Micah Buettner, Rome Bassett and Alternate Egan Smith took on the very best swimmers in Division II.
Results of the Meet:
Bryson Smith: 50 Freestyle- 19th place – 23.56
Bryson Smith: 100 Freestyle- 11th place – 50.37 (2.44 second drop from Seed Time)
200 Free Relay: (Cody Roberts, Rome Bassett, Micah Buettner, Bryson Smith)- 14th place -1:38.05. (2.02 second drop from Seed Time)
400 Free Relay: (Cody Roberts, Rome Bassett, Micah Buettner, Bryson Smith)- 17th place – 3:39.91. (5.89 second drop from Seed Time)
“Swimmer of the Meet”: Bryson Smith- Achieved 3 Personal Records and Placed 19th (50 Free) and 11th (100 Free) in his individual events and also helped the relay teams place 14th (200 Free Relay) and 17th (400 Free Relay).

Rome Bassett: 1 PR

That concludes the Swim Season.
The PHS Boys Swim Team want to thank the AIA Swim Committee for allowing swim to have a season and a Championship; the PUSD Board for allowing PHS to have a Fall Sports Season; the Admin/ Staff at Prescott High School for the endless hours in support of our program; The YMCA for letting us use the pool for training; Missy Townsend (PHS Athletic Director) for all of her planning, support and guidance during the season; the Swim Boosters for their time and financial support during the season; and especially the parents of our swimmers, for allowing the kids to participate in Swim during these uncertain times with COVID.
