The Prescott Badgers varsity girls soccer hosted the Dysart Demons Tuesday night in their home opener. The first half was dominated by the high intensity of the Prescott offense. From the opening whistle the Badgers pushed hard, attacking at every turn. They would tally two quick goals early on by seniors Mikayla Sell and Audrey Lockling in first 5 minutes. The Badgers would settle in over the next 35 minutes controlling the ball and the pace of attack. The Dysart goalkeeper did her best to keep the game close with numerous saves but goals by Sell, Sawyer Magnet and Emma Townsend would stretch the Preacott lead to 5-0 at half time. The second half continued the same as the first. Prescott controlled much of the possession and attacking adding a second goal from Sawyer Magnet and Mikayla Sell finishing her hat trick with beautiful breakaway beating the goalkeeper neatly to her right with a quick feint and finishing in the open net. While it was a dominant performance by the Badgers, coach Campuzano did not get carried away with a big win. “We were ok at times today. We did what we needed to do to win but still have work to do, especially with the games coming every other day. The most important thing is that the girls worked hard today and remained focus on what our plan was. They are such a skilled group of girls I want to make sure they don’t get comfortable and continue to push to get better”.
