Badger News · Badger Girls Soccer Roll Over Poston Butte

Heading into their third game of the season, the Badger girls soccer team was ready to prove To everyone that this team is for real. “We purposely asked for higher caliber teams this year to test the girls every week. I did not want them to have any weeks off”, stated coach Campuzano.
So taking the long bus ride to San Tan Valley to face Poston Butte would be another in a long line of quality teams. The Badgers were flying from the opening whistle moving the ball as they pressed the Bronco’s defense. It would be a Sawyer Magnett pass that found Freshman Ellie Magnett who hit the back of the net that would open the flood gates for Prescott in the sixth minute of the game. “When I saw how quickly we were moving the ball on this field, It calmed me down right away. The field was perfect and the girls took advantage of it”, stated coach Campuzano.
Shortly after that Sawyer Magnett would tally her first goal off a cross from Erika Smith. Sawyer would finish the first half with four goals before Freshman Kari Kasun notched her first career goal off an assist from Katie Kasun and the Badgers would enter half time leading 6-0. Emma Alvarez and Lily Jensen would score second half goals and the defense would hold the Broncos scoreless with the game ending 8-0.
“That was a quality team we beat tonight. The score was unexpected for sure but when our defense is that good it makes our offense confident to press and push for more. Becca was great in goal and really has changed our defense. 20 girls contributed tonight and I think that is why this team can be special. As long as we can stay healthy” concluded coach Campuzano.
The Badgers host Seton Catholic on Tuesday, 12/11/18. We would love to have you come out and support the girls.
